Colleen Shackelford, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Colleen Shackelford is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with a notable academic background. She earned her doctorate (DNP) from Gonzaga University, following her studies at the University of Portland (BSN, RN) and The George Washington University (MSN, FNP). She maintains active memberships with the Nurse Practitioners of Idaho, The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing.
Colleen brings over 10 years of diverse practice experience, offering care to Idahoans of all ages. She finds joy in caring for families, often serving several generations within the same family. Her healthcare approach strongly emphasizes lifestyle modifications as part of disease management and prevention, supported by effective health promotion strategies.
A strong advocate for education, Colleen contributes to the growth of the future NP workforce. She has dedicated over 1,000 hours of clinical preceptorship to numerous NP and PA students and has served as adjunct faculty for Idaho State University's NP program.
Honored with the NP State Award for Excellence in 2019, Colleen is recognized for her work in NP Policy. She actively collaborates with the Nurse Practitioners of Idaho, working diligently to reduce barriers to NP practice and promote a healthier Idaho through her role as Legislative Committee Chair and President-Elect. Additionally, she shares her knowledge and experience as a speaker at state and national healthcare and health policy conferences.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Colleen is an outdoor enthusiast. She relishes running, biking, skiing, and traveling, and particularly enjoys camping and exploring Idaho's beautiful outdoors with her husband and two sons.
